| Product Description | Aerodynamics is currently one of the important tuning areas. We have further improved the performance of the Civic Type R, which has high dynamic performance, and have started developing the rear wing, which is an extremely important setting tool, with a view to using it in races. This time, in addition to designing using CFD, we also incorporated performance evaluation through wind tunnel testing as a new method to confirm effectiveness. We conducted a desk study on size, shape, angle, etc. and produced several types of prototypes. We measured drag and downforce using a full-size wind tunnel tester. Then, the wing whose performance was confirmed in the wind tunnel test was actually installed on the circuit and a comparison test was conducted to select the final product shape. In addition to CFD, by quantifying downforce in wind tunnel tests and confirming them on circuits, we are able to confirm the consistency of desk calculations, bench tests, and actual driving. We have created a product that is more efficient and effective than ever before by performing intuitive evaluations based on customer feedback, numerical evaluations, and comparative studies. With a well-balanced wing that can generate optimal downforce for the Civic Type R with low drag, you can create a setup that suits the driving stage.
