The C-HR is equipped with SACHS dampers, which give it a sportier and more responsive handling balance than the Prius. In fact, the CHR was built after a lot of driving at the Nürburgring, and it has a very cohesive feel that makes it hard to believe it is an SUV. The CHR is supple and all its movements have a firm and sticky feel, yet it remains stable and flat without any wobble even when braking and turning in from high speeds. The response to quick steer operation is good, and the rear movement is in sync and very well balanced. However, since the front and rear bump strokes are small, the car strokes to the bump touch area under hard inputs, and the flat feeling on highways is slightly deteriorated in some cases.The “NEW SR MC” has been designed to improve the sportiness of the vehicle while maintaining the “cohesiveness” and “stickiness” of the vehicle. The dimensions of both front and rear dampers have been reviewed to increase the bump stroke, and the HLS valve has been properly tuned to balance the stroke and damping force, improving the inertia at gaps and further enhancing the tracking performance. The new HLS valve is designed to enhance driving enjoyment and to satisfy rear seat passengers as well.
